Adopt a Senior Pet Month

In recognition of November as Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month, the Riverside Humane Society Pet Adoption Center (RHSPAC) is urging people to consider adding a senior cat or dog to their households.

Many people tend to overlook senior animals in favor of cute little kittens and puppies.  However, older pets offer many benefits, especially for people who don’t have the time or energy to deal with the antics of kittens and puppies.

Senior pets are ideal for adults, singles, seniors, and even older children.  They not only become immediate companions, but they often possess mild temperaments and lower energy levels, and most likely are housebroken.  They know they’re getting a second chance and appreciate the warmth and security of a stable environment and loving home.

To see available animals and learn more about RHSPAC and its programs and events, go to www.petsadoption.com or visit the Pet Adoption Center 10 – 5, Tuesday – Sunday, at 6165 Industrial Ave. in Riverside.

Salvation Army is registered with Target

The Salvation Army San Bernardino Corps has registered at Target to help provide pillows, blankets and other bedding for its new shelter, a building under remodel on Tenth Street.

This will allow anyone the opportunity to shop for a housewarming gift for the Salvation Army, which hopes to move into the new shelter in early January. It needs new bedding because at its current location, shelter residents sleep on mats but in the new location they will sleep on beds.

The Target Foundation allows non-profit organizations such as The Salvation Army to create registries enabling the public to donate specific needs. These registries can be printed at Target, in the same way one would print a wedding or baby gift registry, so shoppers can help The Salvation Army while at Target for their own needs.
