The head of the FAA’s Air Traffic Organization is quitting. The agency has been under fire lately due to controllers found sleeping on the job. The latest case was in Reno yesterday when an air ambulance had to land without guidance. The FAA says it is beefing up staff on the midnight shift at 27 airport towers nationwide including Ontario international.

Ford is recalling more than one-million 2004-2006 F-150 pickup trucks due to a problem that could cause airbags to deploy unexpectedly.

The NBA has slapped Kobe Bryant with a 100-thousand-dollar fine for directing a gay slur at a referee during Tuesdays game. Kobe admitted using the word “out of frustration.” But says he will appeal the fine.

Barry Bonds has been found guilty of obstruction of justice. After four days of deliberation, a jury was only able to reach agreement on one of the four charges against Bonds. A mistrial was declared on the other three charges.

The job market is stumbling again with initial claims for unemployment swinging upward. The Labor Department says new filings increased 27-thousand last week.

A Riverside family wants a live apology from “American Idol” executives after 19-year-old Ashley Kauffman claimed she was told to move from the front row to the back row of her section because she was too heavy to sit at the front. Idol denies the allegations.

 

Actress Katherine Zeta Jones recently underwent treatement at a mental health facility for bi-polar disorder. Her rep says Jones is now feeling great and looking forward to getting back to work.
