In a historic ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court upholds the sweeping 2010 healthcare reform law.  Chief Justice John Roberts joined the four liberals on the court in ruling that the individual mandate provision of the law can stand as a tax.  The mandate requires most Americans to purchase health insurance coverage or face monetary penalties.  The individual mandate is the heart of the Affordable Care Act, President Obama’s signature legislative achievement.  The ruling is a huge victory for Obama and congressional Democrats.

A girls j-v soccer coach at Ontario Christian High School is accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student. Ontario police arrested 56-year-old Earl Wayne Gann of Corona Tuesday morning. The victim told school authorities that Gann inappropriately touched and kissed her while she was alone with him in the school’s training room.

The explosive Waldo Canyon Fire in Colorado Springs continues to burn out of control. 35,000 resident have been evacuated. Officials say yesterday’s weather conditions pushed the nearly 16-thousand-acre blaze faster than firefighters could handle.
