
A Sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a man during a confrontation at Moreno Valley Community Park yesterday afternoon. Witnesses tell the Press Enterprise that the deputy was questioning the man when they started fighting and the deputy oepened fire. The name of the man has not been released.
A fire at a rubber recycling plant sent black smoke into the sky over Fontana last night. It took firefighter about an hour to extinguish the flames at the business along Calabash Avenue. No word on the cause.
Millions of people in the eastern U.S. are still without power this morning and will have to cope with sweltering temperatures again today. Utilities in Ohio, Virginia and Maryland say damage to their power grids is catastrophic. In addition, oppressive heat again blanketed much of the region on Sunday.
The Lake Elsinore boat launch planned eight years ago is open for business. The grand opening was held Saturday after a year of building two, 200-foot long launches at a cost of eight-million dollars. City officials say the six-lane launch can handle 450 boats a day.
A foul-mouthed teddy bear is on top at the box office. The R-rated comedy “Ted” made 54-point-one-million dollars in its debut weekend. Magic Mike was second.
It looks like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ six-year marriage will end with his and her divorce documents. Following Holmes’ divorce filing in New York, Cruise is planning to fire back with divorce papers of his own in LA. Holmes is reportedly seeking full custody of their daughter.
