The city of San Bernardino is going bankrupt. The city council voted last night to filed for chapter nine bankruptcy as the city faces a $45 million dollar budget deficit. The declaration gives the city a chance to reorganize its debt.San Bernardino becomes the third California city to file bankruptcy in just the past few weeks following Stockton and Mammoth Lakes.

An officer involved shooting in San Bernardino early this morning has left one man dead and a woman in the hospital. Details are sketchy but the incident reportedly began as a traffic stop on a stolen car in Colton and a subsequent chase ended with shots fired near Meridian and Mill streets in San Bernardino.

The summer heat wave continues today with an excessive heat warning issued for the Inland Empire where temperatures are expected to be well over 100 degrees. The heat is expected to begin easing a little by Friday.
