Just days after the city of San Bernardino announced it would seek Chapter nine bankruptcy protection, teh Sheriffs department confirms that it is investigating possible criminal activity at city hall. San Bernardino city attorney James Penman has said he beleieves that city financial documents were falsified to show a surplus when there was actually a deficit. Sheriff Rod Hoops tells the San Bernardino Sun that their investigation is not related to the bankruptcy filing.

Mother nature put on a quite ashow early this morning with lightning, thunder and rain in the Inland Empire. Scattered showere are still reported. A flash flood watch for the Inland mountains and deserts has been extended to this evening.

Mitt Romney may be considering former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice as his running mate. There are reports that Romney is close to picking a VP candidate and that Rice is at the top of the list. In the past Rice has repeatedly said she has no interest in running for office.

The U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms are rubbing Congress the wrong way. The Ralph Lauren uniforms are made in China and have generated bipartisan irritation.

After two seasons as a judge, Steven Tyler says he is leaving American Idol. Tyler says he plans to dedicate the next few years working with Aerosmith. Jennifer Lopez has also indicated that she may be leaving Idol.
