12 people are dead and 59 hurt after a deadly overnight shooting rampage at a suburban Denver theater.  A gunman walked into the theater and started shooting during a special midnight showing of the new “Batman” movie.  Police are currently attempting to search his apartment in the suburb of Aurora.  A fire official says the apartment is rigged with tripwires tied to bottles containing an unknown substance.

Police believe 24-year-old James Holmes is the man responsible for the massacre. He is in custody and being questioned. Holmes reportedly is from the San Diego area and the Press Enterprise reports that he is a 2010 graduate of UC Riverside.

ABC News reports that Holmes hair was painted and that he told police at the time of his arrest that he was “The Joker”.  Investigators have not confirmed this report.
