Chick-fil-A could find itself flooded with people again today, as gay marriage supporters plan same-sex kiss-ins at Chick-fil-As across the country. Chick-fil-A broke its one-day sales record on Wednesday as thousands flocked to the restaurantS on what was dubbed Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day in support of company president Dan Cathy’s public opposition to same-sex marriage.

The Labor Department’s highly-anticipated monthly jobs report is out. It shows 163-thousand jobs added to non-farm payrolls in July. That pushes the nation’s unemployment rate up a tenth of a percent to 8.3 percent.

The Volcano Fire west of Murrieta flared up yesterday and is currently 75-percent contained. Officials had hoped to have the fire fully contained yesterday but a five acre flare up kept them busy. The fire has burned 350 acres and one home since starting on Wednesday.

A Moreno Valley man is in jail on child pornography charges.  Sixty-three-year-old Tibbals Beal was taken into custody last week after the images were found on his stolen laptop.  Riverside County sheriff’s officials say the burglars admitted to taking the computer and trying to extort money from Beal when they saw the porn.  The burglary suspects were not identified, but two of them were reportedly juveniles.

Drag cars could soon be burning rubber once again at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.  The “Riverside Press-Enterprise” says speedway officials reached a settlement with a group of neighbors who sued the track and San Bernardino County over noise caused by the races.  The speedway’s website said the dragway “may resume operations…if it first complies with a series of requirements intended to mitigate the environmental impacts to the surrounding community — including the construction of a soundwall.”  The races were held three out of four weekends and drew as many as 500 drivers and their dragsters.

The target date for NASA’s Curiosity rover to land on Mars is late Sunday night.The idea is to determine whether the Red Planet ever had the ingredients necessary for the formation of life.

At the Summer Olympics… Riverside Poly graduate Tyler Clary won gold in the 200 meter backstroke and Michael Phelps won his 20th medal and 16th gold edging Ryan Lochte in the 200-meter individual medley yesterday Gabby Douglas won Olympic gold in the women’s gymnastics individual all-around yesterday. Track and field gets underway today.
