
The heat wave broiling the Inland Empire has the state’s electricity grid operator issuing a statewide flex alert. Officials are warning residents to cut back on power usage during peak hours in the afternoon over the next few days. Power outages are reported in Yucaipa and San Jacinto this morning.Yesterday, the mercury topped-out at 112 in Lake Elsinore, 108 in Moreno Valley and 105 in San Bernardino. An excessive heat warning is in effect again today.
There are multiple reports a deal has been done that will send superstar center Dwight Howard to the Lakers. Howard would reportedly go to the Lakers as part of a complicated four-team trade. The Lakers give up center Andrew Bynum who goes to Philadelphia. The deal must still be approved by the league.
The FBI has announced that an LA based street gang has been recruiting young girls from Inland Empire schools to work as prostitutes. Eight people have been indicted in connection with the operation.

At the Summer Olympic games in London, US Women won gold in soccer beating Japan 2-1 in the final. American Ashton Eaton won the decathalon. And Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt won gold in the 200 meter. The US leads the overall medal count at 90.
