The San Bernardino City Council has approved an interim bankruptcy plan that will cut more than 100 jobs and slash about $22 million dollars from the $46 million dollar deficit. The city’s budget is being cut by about 30 percentThe plan holds off on a proposed cuts to the fire department…at least for now.

Cooler temperatures are helping firefighters douse the Williams Fire above Glendora. U.S. Forest Service officials say the blaze has charred 4100 acres and is 48-percent contained.

Albertsons is closing 26 underperforming stores nationwide including 5 in the Inland Empire. The stores in Moreno Valley (Pigeon Pass & Ironwood), Norco (Hamner Ave & Hidden Valley Pkw.), Riverside (Limonite & Clay), Ontario (Grove Ave & Walnut Street) and Victorville (Bear Valley & Amethyst Roads) are expected to close their doors by December.

President Obama will wrap up the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina with a speech accepting the party’s nomination tonight. Former President Bill Clinton spoke last night.. The President’s speech tonight was moved to the convention’s indoor venue because of the threat of storms.

Amazon.com is expected to unveil a new batch of Kindle devices at a press conference this morning. While the company hasn’t said what it will discuss, several leaks indicate a coming-out party for the latest edition of Kindles.
