The National Weather Service says a slow-moving shot of upper-level moisture is heading to Southern California from Arizona and Mexico, which could produce scattered thunderstorms. Mostly sunny skies return to the valleys tomorrow.
A knife-weilding man was shot and injured by police in Hemet Saturday afternoon after allegedly threatening to kill at least two people. The unidentified suspect is accused of threatening two people during two separate incidents Saturday afternoon along North Gilbert Street. Police opened fire when he refused to drop his knife and a hammer. He’s expected to survive.
There will be no public school classes in Chicago today. Teachers are on strike for the first time in 25 years.
Congress will be back in session this afternoon, as lawmakers return from their five-week summer recess.
