U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and at least three other staffers from the American consulate have been killed in a rocket attack in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. Violent protests erupted there yesterday over a movie made in the U.S. that ridicules the Prophet Muhammed.

A steel girder from the World Trade Center has become a permanent part of a 9-11 memorial in Loma Linda. The six-foot section of steel I-beam was unveiled at an emotional ceremony yesterday in front of the city’s main fire station.

Someone in Riverside may be very rich this morning. The winning ticket for last nights $120 million dollar mega millions drawing was purchased at a 7-11 on Iowa Ave in Riverside. The winning numbers are 5, 11, 20, 33, 36 and Mega number 11.

California’s largest lake is to blame for a rotten stench throughout Southern California on Monday. The rotten egg odor was detected from the Inland Empire to Ventura County. The AQMD says the Salton Sea is the top suspect. Monday’s hot weather combined with the release of bacteria from the bottom of the Sea could have generated the strong smell of sulfur.

The FDA is putting the world’s biggest cosmetic group on notice about its claims for some skincare products. The agency says one of L’Oreal’s units makes claims about some of its creams that make them sound like drugs.

Apple is expected to show the world its latest iPhone this morning at a special event in San Francisco. It’s long been rumored the phone will have a larger screen and be thinner than the previous iPhone 4S.
