
Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner broke the sound barrier yesterday as he set a new record for the highest skydive ever . Baumgartner leapt from a capsule towed by a balloon some 24 miles above Roswell, New Mexico. That was high enough to also set the record for the highest manned balloon flight. He fell at staggering speeds of well over 800 miles per hour for over four minutes until deploying his parachute.
Chuck Yeager has broken the sound barrier yet again. The 89-year-old legendary pilot accomplished the feat on Sunday over Nellis Air Force Base, with the help of a younger co-pilot, 65 years to the day that he first achieved Mach speed.

A murder investigation is underway in Hesperia where firefighters found a man’s dismembered body on fire. The gruesome discovery was made yesterday morning near Mauna Loa and 7th streets. No word on the victims identity. Police believe he was killed elsewhere before being dumped in the vacant lot.
A Corona man is hospitalized after his plane crash-landed near the Municipal Airport. The wreck happened on Saturday when the single-engine aircraft lost power. Witnesses at the nearby little league field say the plane clipped some tree branches, started to cartwheel and then skidded across the street. The pilot, Alan Sinman, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The FAA is investigating.
Home prices continue to increase across the Inland Empire. According to real estate service DataQuick, the median home price in Riverside County was up over eleven-percent last month from the year before, while the price in San Bernardino County increased about 13- percent. Southern California’s six-county region also recorded double-digit gains of 12-and-a-half-percent. September’s median home price of over 315-thousand dollars was the highest it’s been since September 2008.
