
Hurricane Sandy has left millions of people powerless along the East Coast. The storm has weakened to a cyclone but not before killing at least 12 people and leaving behind massive flooding, damage and electrical outages. New York City has been especially hard hit. A back-up power system at NYU’s hospital died and patients had to be evacuated from the facility.
Meanwhile, a massive six-alarm fire is tearing through Breezy Point, Queens. Over 50 homes have been completely destroyed by flames. Downed power lines may have started that fire.

A Menifee man accused of killing his neighbors chihuahua with a golf club has pleaded guilty to felony animal cruelty. 59 year old Larry Jarequi made the plea Monday as his trial was set to begin. He was sentenced to 60 days house arrest and 3 years probation.
The space shuttle Endeavour is ready to welcome visitors. The exhibit featuring the retired shuttle opens to the public today at the California Science Center in LA. Museum officials have Endeavour inside an temporary 18-thousand-square-foot building at Exposition Park while development of a permanent home continues.
