A Beaumont man who shot a police dog was in turn shot and killed in a stand off with SWAT officers yesterday. Police were orginally called to the house on Morgan Ave when a woman said her husband was trying to kill her.The canine officer underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Jenni Rivera’s family say they still hold out hope that the singer may still be alive. A corporate jet carrying Jenni Rivera and six-others from Monterrey to Mexico City disappeared from radar Sunday morning. But NTSB says Rivera was among the seven peopledead.

The White House and Republican Congressional leaders may be making progress on keeping the economy from going over the “fiscal cliff.” There are indications that preparations are being made for fast Congressional consideration of a deal if one is reached soon.

A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the mountains and inland valleys of Southern California because of the low humidity and high winds.  The warning went into effect Sunday night for the Santa Clarita Valley, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area, the San Gabriel Mountains in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and the Angeles and Los Padres national forests.  It expires at 2 p.m. today.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013 will be unveiled today.  HollywoodReporter.com says Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea has been tapped to make the announcement in Los Angeles.  His band was added to the Rock Hall this year.  Rush, Deep Purple, Heart, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts are among the 15 acts in the running for the honor, along with Randy Newman, Procol Harum, the Marvelettes, Kraftwerk, and the late Donna Summer.  Other nominated artists include the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, blues great Albert King, Chic, The Meters and rap pioneers Public Enemy and N.W.A.
