A masked gunman wearing a bullet proof vest opened fire in busy shopping mall in surburan Portland, Oregon, killing two people and critically wounding a third before killing himself. It happened yesterday afternoon in the crowded Clackamas Town Center mall. Police say the shooter has been “tentatively” identified but they’re not releasing his name yet.

Nearly two-dozen students from three high schools in Temecula are accused of selling illegal drugs on campus. Investigators served arrest warrants yesterday on students at Temecula Valley, Chaparral and Rancho Vista Continuation high schools following a months-long investigation. They seized pot, cocaine, meth, ecstasy, heroin and other drugs during the undercover sting.

The international community is denouncing a rocket launch by North Korea that observers say likely placed a satellite into orbit.  The White House blasted Pyongyang’s long-range rocket launch, calling it a “highly provocative act” in direct violation of UN resolutions.  China has voiced its “regret” and Russia expressed “deep regret” over the launch.

The San Bernardino County Superior Court is closing three courthouses due to a 22-million-dollar budget shortfall. The Needles, Big Bear and Barstow courthouses will close in May 2013.
