People in Norfolk, Virginia were so sure they saw a lion the size of a Labrador retriever prowling the streets, they called 9-1-1 earlier this week.  Authorities checked with the zoo, where both big cats were caged and accounted for.  It turns out this “king of beasts” is a dog; a Labrador-poodle mix owned by Old Dominion University alumnus Daniel Painter.  Painter had a groomer trim and dye the dog’s coat to resemble ODU’s lion mascot.  Just days after he was first spotted, the three-year-old dog named Charles the Monarch has become a bona fide Internet sensation.  He even has his own Facebook page.
