The Inland Empire and all of Southern California is in the grip of unusual sub-freezing temperatures. The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings until 8 a.m. for the IE. Forecasters say the cold snap will let up a bit by tomorrow. and Inland Empire temps could reach 70 by the weekend.

A small 3.0 quake rattled the Inland Empire at 6:26 yesterday morning. The quake was centered two miles west of Loma Linda. There were no reports of damage.

Health officials are urging steps to prevent the flu as the country deals with one of the worst outbreaks in years. At the top of the list, get a flu shot, and the sooner the better. Figures show that at least 112 million people have followed through with that advice.

The Cadillac ATS and the Ram 1500 are taking top honors as the North American Car and Truck of the year.  This morning’s announcement comes as part of the traditional kickoff to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

A public memorial for Huell Howser is scheduled tomorrow at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.  The longtime host of KCET’s “California’s Gold” died last week in his hometown of Palm Springs.  Archives of the program were donated by Howser to Chapman University in the city of Orange less than a year before his death.  The public memorial is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.

It turns out Ben Affleck and the cast and crew of “Argo” did a pretty good job of making a movie about a fake movie.  The film was named Best Motion Picture, Drama at the 70th Golden Globe Awards, which took place in Beverly Hills, California Sunday night.  Affleck also took home the Best Director trophy, which is an honor he isn’t even nominated for at the upcoming Academy Awards.  ”Les Misérables” was another big winner at the Globes, claiming victories for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for Hugh Jackman; and Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway.  Other winners included “Lincoln’s” Daniel Day Lewis for Best Actor in a Drama, “Zero Dark Thirty’s” Jessica Chastain for Best Actress in a Drama, and “Silver Linings Playbook’s” Jennifer Lawrence for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.  ”Django Unchained” also won two awards — Best Original Screenplay for writer-director Quentin Tarantino and best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz.

It looks like Lance Armstrong is ready to come clean about doping during his cycling career.  A source told “USA Today” that Armstrong will make the admission to Oprah Winfrey in an interview scheduled to be taped at his Austin, Texas home today.  The American cycling champion denied accusations of doping throughout his career.
