President Obama has rolled out a sweeping series of gun safety proposals, in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings. Obama is urging Congress to pass legislation requiring “universal background checks” for gun purchases, a ban on military-style assault weapons, and limit ammunition clips. He also signed 23 executive actions aimed at curbing gun violence.The NRA says Obama’s proposals only affect law-abiding gun owners.

Officers are stepping up their hunt for the so-called AK-47 bandit who shot and injured a police officer in Chino during a bank robbery last year. A 100-thousand dollar reward is now being offered. The FBI has linked the man to similar robberies in Vacaville, Sacramento, Washington State and Idaho.

Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o says he’s the victim of a cruel hoax. Te’o issued a statement saying he developed an emotional relationship with a woman he met online and they maintained what he thought was an authentic relationship for months. Te’o was then allegedly duped into thinking the 22-year-old woman later died from leukemia.

Actor Conrad Bain who played TV dad Phillip Drummond on the 80′s show Diff’rent Strokes has passed away. He was 89.

The popular Dunkin’ Donuts chain will return to Southern California in 2015. Dunkin Donuts left California in the late 90s, but the company now has plans to open up to a thousand new stores in the state.
