Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o says he’s the victim of a cruel hoax. Te’o says he developed an emotional relationship with a woman he met online. Te’o was then allegedly duped into thinking the woman, who he claimed was his girlfriend, died from leukemia. That was a major story line leading up to the recent national championship. It’s now being reported that a man in Palmdale, who was a high school classmate of Te’o, may have been behind the deception. That has led some to speculate that Te’o knew about the fake girlfriend all along. Whatever is the truth, some people are posting photos on Facebook of themselves “Te’oing”, putting out their arm like they have a fake boyfriend or girlfriend.
