San Bernardino police are trying to determine if two home invasion robberies that targeted elderly victims over the weekend may be related to the robbery and murder of a 76 year old woman in the same neighborhood back in November. Two of this past weekend victims were beaten …an 84 year old woman remains hospitalized.

A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy is accused of having consensual sex with a female inmate at the Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center. Twenty-seven-year-old Deputy Jonathan Miller was arrested Wednesday at his home and has since posted bail. He’s been placed on administrative leave.

Senator Dianne Feinstein is sponsoring a renewal of the assault-style weapons ban that expired nine years ago. Feinstein’s bill would also ban high-capacity ammunition clips.

A new Washington, DC statehood bill is now before the U.S. Senate. The bill would make the District the 51st state. The measure is not likely to become law. But if it did, the District would be called New Columbia.

J.J. Abrams is reportedly next in line to guide the next “Star Wars” film to blockbuster success.  TheWrap.com quotes “an individual with knowledge of the production” who claims Abrams has been tapped to direct the new movie. In addition to co-creating hit TV series like “Lost,” “Fringe” and “Alias,” Abrams also directed the box office hits “Mission Impossible III,” “Star Trek” and “Super 8.”  Abrams is currently working on the sequel to the 2009 “Star Trek” reboot, “Star Trek Into the Darkness.”  The movie is due out on May 18th.

Jimmy Kimmel gets a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today. Kimmel will unveil his star in front of the El Capitan Entertainment Centre at 1130 this morning.
