
Winter weather is returning to the Inland Empire. a Winter Storm Warning has been issued from 8 a.m. until noon tomorrow. Forecasters say rain and heavy snow are headed inland. Snow levels could drop to 2000 feet. Some light showers are already falling. rainfall will be about a half-inch in the valleys with a foot or more of snow possible at the ski resorts. Commuters should prepare for snow along I-15 through the Cajon Pass, which could get four-to-eight inches of the white stuff.
A candlelight vigil for slain San Bernardino County sheriff’s detective Jeremiah MacKay will be held tonight at 6 p.m. in front of Yucaipa City Hall. Funeral services for MacKay are planned for Thursday in Devore.
The Lakers and their fans are mourning the death of longtime owner Jerry Buss. The 80-year-old passed away Monday after battling an undisclosed form of cancer. Under Buss, the Lakers won ten NBA championships.
The price of gas continues to rise in the Inland Empire. Triple A says the average price in the two-county region was four-24 a gallon yesterday. That’s up eleven cents in one week and 55 cents in a month. Officials say the price hikes are the result of reduced supplies and the switch from winter to summer blends.
Microsoft is saying goodbye to Hotmail and replacing it with its new Outlook service. Hotmail users will be able to keep their old email and login information, but their interface will be upgraded to Outlook.
Disneyland is in the red financially and, just like the popular “E” tickets, they are doing away with special discount tickets meant to draw in local Southland residents. The “Orange County Register” says wintertime discounts are no more because business is booming. That’s due in part to the success of the one billion dollar upgrade to the California Adventure theme park across the street from the happiest place on earth. A one day pass for both parks is now a flat 125 dollars. If you’re a Disney junkie, they are also offering financial terms to people who sign up for their credit cards.
