Thousands are expected to attend the funeral for slain San Bernardino County Sheriff’s detective Jeremiah MacKay this morning at 11 am at the San Manuel Amphitheatre in Devore. MacKay was killed last week outside a cabin in Seven Oaks during a shootout with ex cop Christopher Dorner. A procession will begin at 8 am from the Mt View Mortuary in San Bernardino. The procession will travel westbound on the 210, then northbound on I-15 before exiting at Glen Helen Parkway. While taking the 215 would have been shorter, that route will cross railroads tracks and officials didn’t want to risk having the procession split up. Today’s funeral is open to the public. If you plan to attend, it’s recommended that you arrive at least an hour early.
