Thousands of people gathered in Devore yesterday for the funeral of San Bernardino County Sheriff’s detective Jeremiah MacKay. MacKay was killed last week in a shootout in Seven Oaks with Christopher Dorner. Sheriff John McMahon says MacKay courageously died in the line of duty.

MacKay was a 15-year veteran with the department and leaves behind his wife and two young children.

Inland Empire gas prices continue to rise. The average price of a gallon of unleaded gas jumped ten cents from last week. Triple-A says the average price now sits at four-dollars and 28-cents in the IE. That’s about 42-cents more than a month ago.

In Temecula, medical manufacturer Abbott Vascular laid off 450 workers yesterday . This is the latest round of Abbott layoffs that included 200 employees who were terminated in October.

Riverside police are asking for the publics help in finding a bank robber. They have released this picture of a man who robbed a Chase branch at 10355 Magnolia on February 1.

Witnesses say the suspect entered the bank and passed a note stating he had a gun, not to do anything stupid, and demanded money.  The teller gave the suspect money and the suspect walked out of the bank.  It is unknown if the suspect entered a vehicle outside the bank.  No weapon was seen during this robbery, and it is unknown if the suspect is actually armed with a handgun. Police say he may be responsible for two other bank robberies.  The suspect is a Black male in his early fifties, approximately 5’7” tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds.  The suspect is bald and wears glasses with clear lenses. The CDC is still advocating that everyone over six months of age get a flu shot. The agency has released an adjusted estimate of this year’s flu vaccine effectiveness. It says it worked 56-percent of the time. However, it admits the findings also prove that a better vaccine is needed, especially for seniors.

Sunday night is Oscar night. Steven Spielberg’s historical drama “Lincoln” tops the nominees with 12 nominations including Best Picture, but many eyes are keeping a close eye on the political thriller “Argo,”
