Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a Perris woman whose body was found on the edge of a Redlands orange grove Tuesday night. Authorities think that 23 year old Sylvia Flores may have been killed somewhere else and then dumped in the grove near Alabama street and Almond.

Pope Benedict the 16th is now just hours away from becoming the first Pope in nearly 600 years to resign. Benedict started his day by meeting with the more than 100 cardinals who’ve traveled to Vatican City to help elect the Pope’s successor.

President Obama says the across-the-board spending cuts scheduled to take effect tomorrow will cause the economy to “tumble downward,” not fall off a cliff. No budget meetings are scheduled until tomorrow.

The Labor Department reports 344-thousand initial claims for unemployment benefits were filed last week, a drop of 22-thousand from the week before.

A homeless man is accused of trying to shoplift 13 pounds of meat from a Fontana grocery store. Police say the man was confronted by the manager at El Super Market Tuesday and after a struggle, the meat fell out of the mans jacket. Employees managed to hold him until officers arrived.
