

The selection of a new Pope begins today. More than a hundred cardinals will be convening at the Sistine Chapel this afternoon to elect the new leader of the world’s one-point-two-billion Roman Catholics.
Southern California was rattled by its largest earthquake in over two years yesterday. The 4.7 quake struck near the town of Anza just before 10 a.m. yesterday. It was felt throughout the Inland Empire, Orange County and downtown LA. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
San Bernardino police are investigating the city’s sixth homicide of the year. Forty-three-year-old Harold Sykes the Third was found shot in his car yesterday morning on North D Street. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he later died. Police have not identified a possible suspect or a motive for the shooting.
A Fontana teacher found dead yesterday in a classroom at Wayne Ruble Middle School appears to have died of natural causes. Authorities say it appears the unidentified teacher collapsed after classes on Friday while doing paperwork.
Jesus Cardenas, the founder of the Cardenas supermarket chain died last week at his home in Alta Loma after a long battle with cancer. He was 73.
A judge has dumped New York City’s ban on large sodas and other sugary drinks that was supposed to take affect today. A state judge ruled the ban is arbitrary. The mayor says he’ll appeal.
Ten seasons and running, now running some more. Ellen’s picking up more viewers and TV air time. Comedienne and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres just reupped her contract to keep her daytime talk show running through the 2016-2017 TV season.
Rumors of a Rolling Stones tour continue to rumble. Billboard.biz says “multiple sources” are claiming a North American trek is in the works. Word is the band will play arenas across the U.S. and Canada during the first half of this year. But it won’t be an extensive road trip, and will reportedly include fewer than 20 shows.
Sean Lowe’s search for love is over. On Monday night’s episode of “The Bachelor,” Sean gave Catherine the final rose and proposed. The couple’s wedding will be covered by ABC as a tv special, but they haven’t set a date set.
