Actor Paul Walker’s friends and colleagues continue to mourn his passing. Walker’s death in a fiery car crash in Santa Clarita Saturday sent shockwaves through Hollywood. Authorities say speed was a factor in the single car crash that killed Walker and a friend, identified as the actor’s business parter Roger Rodas. It’s believed Rodas was driving the Porsche when it crashed into a pole and a tree.

A sheriff’s deputy in Rancho Cucamonga is recovering after an accident involving a big-rig. The deputy was racing to an armed robbery call Friday night, when the truck driver pulled out in front of him near Hermosa Avenue and Fourth Street. Authorities say the deputy suffered serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery.

Researchers say a by-product of cholesterol can fuel the deadly growth and spread of breast cancer. Their findings in the journal Science also raise the possibility that cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins might prevent the disease.
