It’s going to be another toasty day today as an early spring heat wave is expected to bring record tying temperatures today. The forecast calling for highs today around 94 which would tie the record for this day. The record temps and low humidity will again have firefighters are high alert.

A LA police officer is lucky to be alive after a man opened fire in the Wilshire police station last night. The gunman reportedly said he wanted to make a complaint before pulling out a gun shooting the officer seven times. A bulletproof vest is credited with saving his life. The gunman was also shot and is being treated.

The whale shows at Sea World could become a thing of the past…State lawmakers are considering a bill that would ban SeaWorld from using killer whales in its shows. A committee will hear testimony today on the legislation.

Evenflo is recalling the buckles on 1.3 million child’s safety seats and booster seats sold between 2011 and 2014. The buckles may become stuck making it difficult to get the child out of them. Click here to see the complete list of car seats affected by the recall.

A Moreno Valley College official is off the job after pleading guilty to corruption charges. Greg Sandoval is the vice president of student services at the college. He’s been placed on paid administrative leave after pleading guilty to felony corruption charges in San Diego County. The crimes occurred when Sandoval was on the board of trustees at a Chula Vista school district. Riverside Community College District officials say they are reviewing the situation.

Ford Motor Company is the latest American automaker to announce a major recall.  The company is recalling nearly 386-thousand Escape SUVs from model years 2001 to 2004 because rust could cause the lower control arm to separate from the subframe of the vehicle.  The “Automotive News” reports Ford is also recalling nearly 49-thousand 2013-2014 Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and C-Max cars because the seats don’t meet federal safety standards.

An Inland Empire private school is leaving some parents scrambling as it prepares to shut its doors for good. Hemet’s Community Christian School will stay open through the current school year, but will then close after being open for over 25 years.

Peaches Geldof, the daughter of rocker Bob Geldof, has unexpectedly died. Geldof died yesterday in London but the cause is unknown. She was just 25.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris is going to get married. Her spokesman says Harris is engaged to marry Los Angeles attorney Doug Emhoff.

Stargazers are in for a rare cosmic performance tonight. The Earth, Mars and the sun will be in an almost straight line. This means Mars will rise in the east near sunset and be visible all night long, moving nearly overhead through the night.
