A ROLLS-ROYCE owned by former Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury has sold at auction for more than six times its guide price at the Birmingham NEC.

The 1974 Silver Shadow was snapped up by a Russian businessman through telephone bidding for just under 119,000.00!

The car, which was bought by Mercury’s managing company Goose Productions Ltd in 1979 for his personal use, went under the hammer this weekend as part of auctioneers Coys Autosport International show at the NEC.

A letter in the silver Rolls’ file, which has just 62,000 miles on the clock, confirms it was bought for the star and continued to be used by him until his death in November 1991.

It was last used for the premiere of the Queen musical We Will Rock you in 2002 and is accompanied by a thick history file containing various bills and receipts and the current MoT certificate, which is due to run out next month.

What a classic for any rock fan or car enthusiast! Make sure and connect with me on my facebook page by clicking here.
