Pop singer Olivia Newton-John has had to postpone her upcoming Flamingo residency substituting for Donny & Marie Osmond’s away dates even before the official announcement of her contract signing.
Olivia revealed today that her elder sister Rona has been diagnosed with cancer. Vegas DeLuxe broke the story of Olivia’s upcoming Flamingo shows exclusively last week.
Olivia, who was diagnosed with breast cancer 20 years ago and underwent a mastectomy and chemotherapy treatments, issued a statement this afternoon: “I received the very sad news that my beautiful sister, Rona Newton-John, has been diagnosed with brain cancer. In light of this news, I have decided to postpone my forthcoming Las Vegas residency to spend time with her and our family.
“As a cancer ‘thriver’ myself, as many people are, I am very aware of the importance of love, support and family during this journey she is about to begin. I want to thank everyone in advance for respecting our privacy during this difficult time.”
It’s believed that the 64-year-old “Grease” star will eventually resume the Flamingo engagements at a later date. I’ve loved Olivia Newton-John since I was in high school, thinking good thoughts for her sister. Make sure and check out my facebook page by clicking here.
