The television game show ‘The Price is Right’ is known for many reasons — the models, the great prizes and the famous wheel and “showcase showdown.”

But above all else, the show is known for its variety of pricing games and its longtime host, Bob Barker.

Barker hosted ‘The Price is Right’ from 1972 to 2007, when Drew Carey took over. While the show has remained a hit in the daytime market with Carey behind the mic, it was Barker that made the show a huge success for more than three decades.

Barker turns 90 Thursday and will make just his second appearance on the show since retiring. His only other appearance came in 2009 when he promoted his autobiography.

In the Dec. 12 prerecorded episode, Carey surprises the studio audience with Barker’s return. The special episode will air Thursday on CBS.
