Warm and windy weather is increasing the fire danger today. A wind advisory has been posted for the Inland Empire until noon. Winds could gust to 35 miles per hour especially below the mountains and passes. A red flag warning has not been officially posted in the IE but those flags are flying in LA and Ventura Counties. It could remain breezy this afternoon with unseasonably warm weather…temps in to the upper 70′s.

It’s been two decades since temperatures in cities across the eastern half of the U.S. have dropped as low as they will today.  Places like central Illinois seeing temperatures approaching 20-degrees-below zero.  Classes have been cancelled in Minnesota, Chicago and parts of Michigan,

Covered California is extending the deadline for people to pay their first month’s insurance premium. The agency announced on Saturday that payments must now be received by January 15th. Officials say the nine extra days will help customers who may have been rushed to pay their first invoices.

The flu season is already peaking nationwide. The good news is common sense can actually prevent many flu cases. Washing hands and avoiding crowds are two very good ideas along with a flu shot.

You’ll soon be able to bet on horse racing in Horse Town USA. The Norco City Council and the state racing board have signed off on a new off site wagering site. Developers plan to convert an old bank building at Fourth Street and Hamner Avenue into a swanky steakhouse, sports bar and off-track betting parlor opening this summer.

Disneys Frozen was the number one movie over the weekend earning 20.7 million dollars. The new Paranormal Activity movie was second.
