A terrible crash on the 210 in La Verne this morning is going to make for a tough commute. A dump truck and a Lexus collided just over an hour ago along the eastbound 210 near Fruit street. At least one person was killed and another was airlifted from the scene. All eastbound lanes are closed as officials clean up the wreck and caltrans repairs the damaged center railing.

Some shaking in the High Desert. A 4.0 quake rattled the Barstow area at 2:38 this morning. No reports of damage.

Toyota is recalling more than 2 million vehicles over problems with the front airbag inflators. This recall involves certain Model Year 2003-2004 Toyota Corolla, Corolla Matrix, and Tundra; certain Model Year 2002-2004 Sequoia; and certain Model Year 2002-2004 Lexus SC 430 coupes.
Owners of vehicles subject to this safety recall will receive an owner notification letter by first class mail.

California’s teachers’ unions say they’ll appeal an LA judge’s ruling that found teacher tenure is unconstitutional. A lawsuit claimed that students around California were getting an inadequate education because bad teachers were being kept on the job because of seniority.
