The northbound 215 through Perris is still closed after a big rig hit a bridge under construction yesterday. The collision caused wood and steel beams to collapse on to the roadway. The driver wasn’t hurt but Caltrans has been working to clean up the mess and secure the bridge. They hope to have the lanes reopened later this morning.

Despite a record drought, Californians are not conserving water so state water officials have approved fines of up to $500 per day on water wasters. The fines will target people guilty of excessive watering and run off. The governor has asked for a voluntary 20 percent cut in water use but we are using more water than last year.

One month after his death, radio legend Casey Kasem has not yet been laid rest. A rep for Kasem’s daughter Kerri Kasem says Casey’s widow Jean is holding up the burial process. The rep says Casey’s remains are still in a Washington state mortuary and have not yet been claimed, even though Kerri gave the body back to Jean after Casey’s death.

The Angels Mike Trout was the MVP of the All Star game last night as the American League beat the National League 5-3.

One of the biggest heroes in the comics universe is changing in a big way. Marvel has announced that Thor is now a woman. The new female version of Thor reportedly comes about because the classic male Thor character can no longer wield the mighty hammer.
