After dropping the ‘Redskins’ as their team name in 2020 the Washington Football Team will announce their new nickname on February 2 (2.2.22) less than 2 weeks prior to the Super Bowl. The early fan favorite on social media was ‘Wolves’ or ‘Red Wolves’ but team President Jason Wright said that won’t be it because of trademark issues with other organizations. There are the other names up for consideration: Armada, Presidents, Brigade, Red Hogs, Commanders, , Defenders and Football Team, according to WFT co-ceo Tanya Snyder. The team was established in 1932 & took the name Redskins at that time.
