The HBO documentary Pee-wee as Himself is out today! In it Paul Reubens shares how he came up with his beloved character’s name. The first part was derived from a tiny harmonica he owned that said “pee-wee.” The second half was inspired by a kid who Reubens grew up with that he described as crazy and loud.
