This LA Stadium Is About To Make History – Again | Freddy Rivera |

la-coliseum

With the Winter Olympics on everyone’s mind, here’s something local that deserves a spotlight:
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is about to make history as the first stadium in the world to host Olympic events three times.

It was the home turf for the 1932 and 1984 Summer Games… and when the Olympics return to LA in 2028, the Coliseum steps into a league of its own.

I’ve been to that stadium plenty of times, mostly for USC games and walking into the Coliseum always feels like stepping into a time capsule. You can feel the history in the concrete. My grandfather actually worked there back in the ’70s doing maintenance, and he still talks about those days. That’s the part that gets me the most:
L.A. chose to honor the past.
To take an old, iconic stadium and let it shine on a global stage again.

In a city that’s constantly reinventing itself, the Coliseum is a reminder that some relics aren’t meant to be replaced. They’re meant to be lived in, celebrated, and pushed forward into the next chapter.

The video below breaks down exactly how the Coliseum pulled this off and why it matters. It’s worth the watch, especially with 2028 getting closer by the day.

Los Angeles, three-time Olympic host… and the Coliseum right at the center of it.
