I’ve been waiting for this one.
The trailer for Mortal Kombat II finally landed today, and right out of the gate, it hits you with something every MK fan has been craving: the classic theme song. Not a remix, not a redo. The actual original. The second it dropped in the mix, man… goosebumps. If you were in theaters for the first one, you know.
And then we get the reveal: Karl Urban (yes, that Karl Urban) stepping in as Johnny Cage.
Perfect casting. Such a likable dude. Exactly the kind of energy the character needed.
The trailer feels big. Crisp. Cinematic. It’s carrying that same gritty world the first film built, but now with more intensity, more attitude, and more callbacks for the fans who grew up on this franchise.
If this is the tone they’re setting, then MKII might actually give us the sequel we’ve been waiting for.
More updates as soon as the studio drops official stills… but for now, enjoy the goosebumps.
P.s. The “Get Over Here” line from Scorpion? Yep. That’s the orignal voice. Ed Boon.
