I walked outside this morning and had that instant thought: summer is in the air.
And maybe that is why days like this always hit a little deeper. As a kid, summer meant running through the sprinklers and knowing school was almost out. That feeling was freedom. Now, summer looks a little different. It is those warm nights somewhere with great food, maybe some live music, concerts under the stars, and those long drives with the windows down and the right song on at the right time.
That is why even though I am a rain guy at heart, there is still something about a hot summer day in Southern California that does something to you. It is hard to describe, but you feel it.
And right now, we are getting a serious preview. Ontario is expected to stay in the 90s all week, peaking around 99 on Thursday. Redlands, 100 by Friday!
So if it already feels like July out there, you are not imagining it. The National Weather Service says dangerously hot conditions are expected this week, with the hottest stretch arriving Tuesday through Friday.
Make sure you and everyone around you stays hydrated… even your car!
Still, I cannot lie, there is a vibe to it. A hot Monday like this almost tricks you into thinking you should be heading to a backyard barbecue, a concert, or a late dinner somewhere with music in the background instead of doing normal Monday stuff.
That is the magic of summer in SoCal. Even before it officially gets here, it changes the mood.
