U2 just dropped a reflective new EP called Easter Lily, and one of the biggest surprises is hearing The Edge step out front on “Song for Hal.” The band says the song was written for their late friend Hal Willner, and Edge handles the lead vocals, which gives this one a different feel than the usual Bono center of gravity. Its personal, stripped down, a little raw in a way that makes the whole release feel more intimate than their usual arena-sized anthems.
As for the tour rumors, nothing officially announced yet. Ticketmaster currently shows no upcoming U2 dates, while fan reporting still points to the band focusing on finishing new music first (makes sense), with a full tour possibly coming later rather than immediately after Sphere. That said, after how incredible U2 sounded and looked at Sphere (yes I got to see one of those early shows at Sphere Las Vegas) its not hard to believe something bigger is coming next.
