Although he’s best known for acting, Adam Sandler will be honored for his songwriting work by The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) tomorrow (2/12). The Happy Gilmore star will receive the ASCAP Founders Award, joining an esteemed group of honorees including Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Tom Petty, Patti Smith, Dr. Dre, Billy Joel, and Diane Warren, among others. The Wedding Singer star has nearly 450 ASCAP-registered works, ranging from his Saturday Night Live days (The Thanksgiving Song, Lunchlady Land and Red Hooded Sweatshirt), along with several songs in films, including Grow Old With You from The Wedding Singer and Forgetful Lucy in 50 First Dates.
