My favorite win at the 98th annual Academy Awards came early on in the ceremony when Amy Madigan scored a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as, “Aunt Gladys,” in Weapons. Madigan has been in so many films over the last 50 years, but this was the first time her work was considered during award season. I’m not the biggest horror fan, but Weapons is one movie in the genre I’d recommend, particularly because of Madigan’s portrayal as creepy, “Aunty Gladys.” Madigan was only in the movie for about 15 minutes, but she made every single one of them count, absolutely stealing her scenes. A Weapons prequel in the works, will expand on Madigan’s character.
