Julian Lennon, son of the legendary John Lennon, broke his vow to never perform his father’s iconic solo song, “Imagine.” Julian performed the peace anthem for the first time during a benefit for Ukrainian refugees on Saturday, April 9.

Julian performed the cover as part of the “Stand Up For Ukraine” campaign, a global fund-raising effort broadcast from Warsaw, Poland, which raised over $10 billion for refugee assistance.

“Imagine” was a song from John’s 1971 album of the same name. The best-selling single of his solo career, the lyrics encourage listeners to imagine a world of peace, without materialism, without borders separating nations and without religion.
