Whitesnake Cancel Shows Amid Various Health Issues

Whitesnake Cancel Shows Amid Various Health Issues

Whitesnake have canceled a couple of concerts that were scheduled for this week after members of the band were affected by various health problems.

In a lengthy statement, the band's frontman David Coverdale said, "We have been rocking our way across the globe on the first part of our Farewell Tour giving all we've got to you, the fans. The rigors of the road are the same for all of us and we have been trying to keep everyone healthy and safe. Unfortunately we have been hit recently with a couple of situations that we have been dealing with, the best we can. First our beloved band leader Reb Beach went down temporarily and he missed a couple of shows while he mended (and is much better now, by the way)."

"Then the rock of our band, the Legendary Tommy Aldridge went down and we unfortunately were not able to play the Rock Imperium Festival in Cartagena this past Saturday (very regrettable and all apologies to our Spanish fans and friends). Tommy was bad enough at the time to have missed the first show ever in his career - The GOOD news is that he is feeling better and is anxious to get back out there to perform for all of you."

"Unfortunately I have now been hit hard as well. I started feeling a bit under the weather two days ago, and was just diagnosed with an infection of the sinus & trachea. The doctor recommends 5 days of no singing and bed rest."

"Sadly, that means that we are not going to be able to do the upcoming shows in Milan, Vienna and Zagreb," he said, referring to the concerts in Milan, which was scheduled to be held on June 28, in Vienna, which was slated for June 30, and the third one scheduled for July 2 in Croatian capital Zagreb.

Depeche Mode Reveal Keyboardist Andy Fletcher's Cause Of Death

Depeche Mode Reveal Keyboardist Andy Fletcher's Cause Of Death

Weeks after the death of Andy Fletcher, Depeche Mode have revealed that their keyboardist passed away after suffering an aortic dissection.

In a statement revealing the Depeche Mode founding member's cause of death, his bandmates Dave Gahan and Martin Gore said, "A couple weeks ago we received the result from the medical examiners, which Andy's family asked us to share with you now. Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26. So, even though it was far, far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering."

"We wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the outpouring of love for Andy that we've seen from all of you over the last few weeks," they said in a joint message to fans.

Gahan and Gore added that the band had organized "a celebration of Andy's life in London last week, which was a beautiful ceremony and gathering with a few tears, but filled with the great memories of who Andy was, stories of all of our times together, and some good laughs."

"Andy was celebrated in a room full of many of his friends and family, our immediate DM family, and so many people who have touched Andy's and our lives throughout the years. All being together was a very special way to remember Andy and see him off," the statement says.

During his 42 year-long stint with Depeche Mode, Fletcher handled multiple roles such as bassist, keyboardist and the manager of the band.

In 2020, he and the band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp Share Cover Of The Beach Boys' 'Caroline, No'

Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp Share Cover Of The Beach Boys' 'Caroline, No'

Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp recently released a cover of The Beach Boys' "Caroline, No" along with an accompanying music video.

The video finds Beck and his live band performing the song onstage. Depp doesn't appear in the video.

The instrumental cover version of the hit from Beach Boys' 1966 album Pet Sounds, will be part of Beck and Depp's upcoming record, 18, which will be available on CD and digitally on July 15. A 180-gram black vinyl version will arrive on September 30.

Brian Wilson has said "Caroline, No," the final song on the Pet Sounds album, could be the best song he's ever written.

"That entire album was great support for me in horrible times," Beck said. "I'd left the Yardbirds and regretted it because I had nothing. I was back living with my mum and dad. I thought, right, I'm not going sit around doing nothing."

"So, I bought a stereo and Pet Sounds, and I was just riveted to the spot," he added. "I remember it was a great big cure from losing the Yardbirds, having Jimi Hendrix stomp all over things, and losing my girlfriend. All that happened in what seemed like the same day."

Depp and Jeff Beck met in 2016 and their mutual admiration for each other's talent resulted in some great covers. They recorded a mix of Depp originals along with a wide range of covers over the next three or four years.

"The song is about a mental institution. Having someone like Jeff Beck play on my album is just incredible, a total honor. There's no other guitar player that plays like him and his solo on 'Patient Number 9' is just jaw-dropping," Ozzy said about the song.

The album Patient Number 9 includes guest lead guitarists Eric Clapton, Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, and Pearl Jam's Mike McCready, as well as session work from Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan, Jane's Addiction's Chris Chaney, and late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins.

Blondie Share New Lyric Video For Cover Of The Doors' 'Moonlight Drive'

Blondie Share New Lyric Video For Cover Of The Doors' 'Moonlight Drive'

Blondie recently released a new lyric video for their cover of the Doors track "Moonlight Drive."

The song is the lead track from Blondie's upcoming expansive box set Against The Odds 1974-1982, due out on August 26.

The new clip shares the lyrics to the previously-unreleased version of the Doors track, which has powerful guitar and keyboards and an unmistakably charismatic performance by frontwoman Debbie Harry.

Jim Morrison, John Densmore, Ray Manzarek, and Robbie Krieger wrote "Moonlight Drive." According to Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman's 1980 biography of Morrison, "No One Here Gets Out Alive," Morrison wrote the song on a rooftop in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, in 1965.

"Moonlight Drive" includes such lyrics as "Let's swim to the moon, let's climb through the tide, penetrate the evenin' that the city sleeps to hide."

Blondie: Against The Odds 1974-1982 will be available in a Super Deluxe Collectors' Edition as well as Deluxe 4LP, Deluxe 8CD and 3CD. It contains all six of their studio albums for Chrysalis, expanded to include over four dozen demo recordings.

Pink Floyd To Release Physical Versions Of Ukraine Benefit Single 'Hey Hey Rise Up'

Pink Floyd To Release Physical Versions Of Ukraine Benefit Single 'Hey Hey Rise Up'

Pink Floyd will release on July 15 two physical versions of their first newly recorded music in over 25 years, "Hey Hey Rise Up."

The single, which was initially released digitally in April in support of the people of Ukraine, was No. 1 in 27 countries..

It will be available on 7" and CD single. Both formats will also feature a newly reworked version of "A Great Day For Freedom" taken from the band's 1994 album, The Division Bell.

The single will be available in Japan on August 3 and in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Mexico on October 21.

David Gilmour and Nick Mason will be joined in the lead track by Andriy Khlyvnyuk of Ukrainian band Boombox in the vocals. Long time Pink Floyd bass player Guy Pratt will be on bass and Nitin Sawhney on keyboards.

When the track was first recorded at the end of March, Andriy, who left his band's U.S. tour to return home and fight for his country, was in a hospital bed in Kyiv recovering from a shrapnel injury. Proceeds for the physical release and the ongoing digital proceeds will go to Ukraine humanitarian relief.

Talking about the inspiration for "Hey Hey Rise Up," Gilmour said, "Any war, but particularly a war that is started by a world superpower against an independent democratic nation, has got to raise enormous anger and frustration in one. It's an enormously difficult, frustrating, and anger-making thing that one human being could have the power to invade another independent democratic nation and set about killing the population. It's just obscene to an extent that is just beyond my belief".

The artwork for the track The Sunflower Look features a painting of the national flower of Ukraine with a twist by the Cuban artist Yosan Leon. The cover is a direct reference to the woman who was seen around the world giving sunflower seeds to Russian soldiers and telling them to carry them in their pockets, so that when they die sunflowers will grow.

Paramount+ Announces Documentary About Don McLean's 'American Pie'

Paramount+ Announces Documentary About Don McLean's 'American Pie'

Paramount+ has announced that a documentary revealing the secrets behind Don McLean's iconic song, "American Pie," will premiere exclusively on the streaming service on July 19.

Additionally, the documentary will have a special Academy qualifying run in New York City and Los Angeles starting on July 8 and will screen in Showcase Cinemas and associated theaters globally on July 14 and July 17

The day the music died: the story of Don Mclean's 'American pie' is produced by Spencer Proffer and executive produced by Bruce Gilmer.

McLean and Proffer tell the story of the song by using contemporary audio/visual storytelling techniques to artistically reimagine the music for a modern audience.

With a narrative running deeper than a catchy tune and cryptic verses, "American Pie" is a musical phenomenon woven deep into the history of American culture, entertaining audiences around the world for over 50 years.

The documentary highlights cultural moments in America's history that are as relevant now as they were in 1971, when the song was released. The film tells stories of the people who were a part of this moment from the beginning and shows the point of view of a new generation of artists who are motivated by the same values and ideas that inspired the song's creation.

"This documentary is something that will make people think, especially since so many throughout the years have asked me what certain lyrics meant or whom I was referring to, but now I finally can solve many of those mysteries," says McLean.

He added, "Everyone from Madonna to Garth Brooks to Weird Al Yankovic has recorded 'American Pie' and made it their own. So many people have their own interpretation of the song, and I love it."
